On a recent trip back to his homeland, Knowledge Transfer Fellow Andrew Dubber was invited to appear on Radio New Zealand with Kim Hill, New Zealand’s leading current affairs interviewer. The programme, entitled “Playing Favourites”, is the kiwi equivalent of “Desert Island Discs”.
In between his eclectic selection Dubber and Hill discussed topics such as copyright issues, on-line strategies for musicians – and Birmingham Council’s decision to drop possessive apostrophes on street signs. Our forthcoming podcast features a short section from the interview where Andrew discusses his research work with Birmingham City University and Interactive Cultures in particular the AHRC Knowledge Transfer Fellowship.
Our podcast episodes are published weekly wherever possible, on a Sunday morning so you have time to pop them on your MP3 player ready for your commute on Monday. Subscribe to the Podcast to ensure you don’t miss out.

We’ll be writing this paper up as a full journal article, and I’ll post some of the background thinking at Wallofsound over the next few weeks, starting with the key points of our presentation.

Initial contact was established with CARE’s Communications Department in London in late 2007. CARE’s Head of Communications was open to the concept of the AHRC KTF scheme, and helped to arrange introductions with Deborah Underwood, who is now the main liaison between BCU and CARE.

On October 31st, we played host to this year’s AHRC Knowledge Transfer Fellowship meeting at the New Technology Institute. The objective of the meeting was to gather together some of the people who have been funded under this scheme, to provide opportunities to network, to share knowledge and practice, and to listen to enthusiastic and engaged people talk about interesting projects.
